Door Panel Mould Quality Essentials

SINOMOULD strictly controls the design and manufacturing quality of door panel moulds to ensure that the injection moulded parts have excellent dimensional stability, surface texture, and long‑term assembly reliability. Given the large surface area and high structural integration of a door panel mould, we implement the following quality essentials:

  • Precision assembly and tolerance control: Using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and blue‑light scanning technology, we ensure that the assembly clearance of critical structures such as sliders, lifters, and window regulator mounting holes is ≤0.02 mm, and that the parting line fit is ≤0.015 mm, eliminating flash and sink marks.
  • Surface quality and texture consistency: Through high‑speed milling combined with mirror electrical discharge machining (EDM), we achieve uniform grain and gloss. For areas such as armrests, map pockets, and decorative trim strips, chemical etching or laser engraving is used to ensure that texture depth and roughness meet automotive interior CMF standards.
  • Cooling and venting system optimisation: Conformal cooling channels are designed to keep the temperature variation across the large door panel cavity within ≤3°C, reducing the moulding cycle time by over 25%. Venting slots (depth 0.02–0.05 mm) are properly positioned to prevent gas traps, burn marks, and weld lines.
  • Durability of functional structures: For high‑stress structures on the door panel such as clip bases, screw bosses, and speaker grilles, we use high‑wear‑resistant inserts with local hardening to ensure no fracture or excessive wear after one million moulding cycles.

Door Panel Mould Machining Essentials

Relying on high‑speed 5‑axis machining centres and a digital manufacturing platform, SINOMOULD achieves high‑efficiency and high‑precision machining of door panel moulds. The core machining essentials are as follows:

  • Full digital mould design: Using UG/NX and CATIA for 3D modelling, combined with Mouldflow analysis, we optimise gate locations (typically using multi‑point sequential valve gate hot runners), runner balance, and deformation compensation amount in advance, controlling door panel warpage to within 0.3 mm.
  • Precision EDM and wire‑cut EDM (WEDM): For features such as deep narrow slots, reinforcing rib grids, and undercuts, we use mirror EDM and wire‑cut EDM to ensure dimensional accuracy of ±0.003 mm without micro‑cracks.
